Amazing Iran (Page 4)

Back to Main Iran Page

Iran is a friendly little Persian kitty (although catnip is outlawed by the Mullahs)

Tomb of Hafez in Shiraz (city of the poets). This is where the young folks come to cruise and meet. AKA Bazaar e Gusht (meat market)

Golestan

Dead poet - very romantic (I guess....)

Roya and Benyamin - She is a doctor of family medicine and he studied Archetecture. Really nice folks that we met at Hafez' tomb and had dinner with.

We all went to a nice Hamam for dinner and music, then a Quran Gate for chai and qalyoun.

Mette made a special friend....

(I wanted Roya's sister's email address....)

Persepolis the next morning. More nice Iranis also checking out the sites.

Mehran may actually be Persian, he says he has a spear at home too....

Notice Mickey the Futbal goalie

Lunch at another of the ubiquitous Caravansarais

Old bridge as Izadkhast

Izadkhast is a very very old mud city that was abandoned in the 1960's because of the stream undercutting the village.

Caravansarai in front of Izadkhast

Some adorable kids stopping for a rest break and playing in the stream

This little girl is very photogenic

Chehel Setun (40 columns) With 20 columns and a reflection in the water of the other 20....

More friendly University students. Is it a school holiday??

"Esfahan is half of the world"

Tamerlane masacred most of the population of Esfahan in 1338 (a slight misunderstanding on the price of a rug I think).

Shah Abbas made it his capital, and this big area (Emam Khomeini square) was a big polo field. Fotos are from Shah Abbas' balcony looking out on the grounds.

Very talkative lady from Alborz area.
